Code of Conduct for COMPASS Events
COMPASS is proud to host this event, and this policy ensures a safe and productive environment for everyone.
COMPASS is dedicated to providing a harassment-free workshop experience. Harassment includes offensive oral comments and behavior related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, deliberate intimidation, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
A participant engaging in harassing behavior will be asked to stop and is expected to comply immediately. COMPASS may take any further action deemed appropriate, including expulsion from the workshop.
COMPASS Rules of the Road
Throughout the workshop, we ask that all participants adhere to some basic principles around our interactions to create an atmosphere for learning and growth.
Confidentiality: You may share what was discussed among fellow participants in generalities, but we ask that you not attribute specific statements to an individual. This confidentiality creates a safe space for participants to experiment, fail, and improve.
Constructive candor: As you engage with each other, we ask that your conversations be kind, generous, and honest, so that everyone feels welcome in this space. Feedback should be in service of helping participants grow and become better communicators.
Step forward, step back: If you are typically quiet and reserved in group settings, try stepping forward by speaking up and voicing your opinion. If you are typically outgoing and eager to share in group settings, try stepping back by allowing others space to contribute.
Be present: We ask that you be engaged and refrain from using electronics unrelated to the course material during our workshop.
Thank you for your contributions to a safe and productive workshop. We value your attendance!
