Code of Conduct
COMPASS is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience. Harassment includes offensive oral comments and behavior related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, deliberate intimidation, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
A participant engaging in harassing behavior will be asked to stop and is expected to comply immediately. COMPASS may take any further action deemed appropriate, including expulsion from the event.
COMPASS Rules of the Road
Throughout our events, we ask that all participants adhere to some basic principles around our interactions to create an atmosphere for learning and growth.
- Confidentiality: You may share what was discussed at this event in generalities, but we ask that you not attribute specific statements to any individuals (‘share lessons, not stories’). This confidentiality creates a safe space for everyone to experiment, fail, and improve. To support confidentiality, we have disabled platform-specific recording (we do not enable Zoom recordings, AI meeting summaries, or chat transcripts) and we also ask that you not record other’s comments in any way (including screen captures, audio or video recordings, or AI summaries). We will provide a PDF of the slides and any other relevant workshop materials.
- Constructive candor: As you engage with each other, we ask that your conversations be kind, generous, and honest, so that everyone feels welcome in this space. Feedback should be in service of helping participants grow and become better communicators.
- Take space, make space: If you are typically quiet and reserved in group settings, try speaking up and voicing your opinion. If you are typically outgoing and eager to share in group settings, try creating space for others to contribute first.
- Be present: We ask that you be engaged and refrain from using electronics unrelated to the course material during our workshop.
Thank you for your contributions to a safe and productive event. We value your attendance!
