Making the Message Stick with Congress

Preparing to Meet Lawmakers in Washington, D.C.?

Make sure you’re ready to make the most of those conversations!

COMPASS Science Communication and ESP Advisors have partnered to deliver a highly interactive policy communication workshop designed to prepare participants to clearly and compellingly communicate the impact of their work with a U.S. Federal policy audience.

During this hands-on, four-hour session, we will:

  • Explore the current, specific legislative context for your issue and discuss strategies for productive dialogue across the political spectrum.
  • Cover examples, tips, and strategies for making your messages stick.
  • Help participants hone their messages and facilitate peer feedback in small groups.
  • Identify overarching themes that resonate with policymakers.

Whether you’re new to policy engagement or have previous experience, you’ll leave with a stronger understanding of the federal landscape for your issue and actionable strategies for making your advocacy more effective, memorable, and impactful.

Ready to enhance your team’s communication on the Hill? Workshops are available for groups of up to 30 participants, with virtual sessions priced at $6,000 and in-person sessions at $7,500.

Grounded in the latest research on science communication, workshops are designed to help participants find the relevance of their research for the target audiences they most want to reach, including journalists, policymakers, engaged community members, funders, other scientists, and beyond.

About ESP Advisors

In this workshop, ESP Advisors will give participants practical, insider guidance on how Congress really works, what staff and lawmakers need to hear, and how to navigate the policy process with purpose.

You know your COMPASS training worked when a congressional staffer repeats your message back to you more than a year later!
