The COMPASS Message Box

As part of the NACCR Education Forum, COMPASS will lead a presentation on the Message Box, a practical tool for translating complex scientific information into clear, audience-centered messages. Learn how to identify the “so what?” of your work and communicate its relevance to policymakers, journalists, community members, and other audiences beyond your field.
Whether you’re sharing research findings, building partnerships, or informing decisions, the Message Box can help make your science more accessible, engaging, and actionable.

Strategically Communicating Risk
Date: Wednesday, July 15 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Location: N206-A, Baird Center (North)
How can we communicate risk in ways that are meaningful, compassionate, and motivating? In this interactive session, COMPASS will share key principles from risk communication research and facilitate discussions about the risk communication challenges conservation and restoration professionals face.
Participants will exchange experiences, explore solutions with peers, and leave with practical ideas for communicating risk more effectively with the audiences they serve.
