Roundtable & Workshop at International Fire Ecology and Management Congress

We’re excited to host two engaging sessions at the 11th International Fire Ecology and Management Congress including a hands-on, skill-building workshop and a timely roundtable on how the field can communicate the realities of living with fire and its impacts. Both sessions are open to scientists, technical experts, and anyone passionate about turning knowledge into action. More details below.

Workshop: Strategic Science Communication for Wildland Fire Scientists & Technical Experts
Tuesday, December 2 | 8:30 AM–12:30 PM

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to communicate what you do, what you know and why it matters — clearly, confidently, and with purpose. You’ll get to practice crafting your message using our signature tool (the Message Box) and receive valuable feedback from fellow participants. Grounded in the latest research on science communication and COMPASS’s experience in the wildland fire space, these lessons will help you better connect with key audiences in the fire space and beyond.

Roundtable: Communicating “Living with Fire” Through a Risk Communication Lens
Friday, December 5 | 10:40–12:20 PM

In this session we’ll brainstorm fresh ways to communicate the realities of living with fire and its far-reaching impacts. Through a dynamic discussion and insights from COMPASS’s risk communication expertise, you’ll walk away with practical communication strategies, new connections with others interested in reaching fire-prone communities, and an open invitation to keep the conversation going with COMPASS and fellow participants.
